Last reviewed: February 17, 1998

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you drag a picture clipping from the Finder to a Word document, the clipping may not appear.

Note that your ability to drag a clipping depends on two factors: the version of the operating system and the size of the clipping.

Small Clippings with Mac OS 7.6 or 8.0

In most cases, you should be able to drag small clippings successfully to Word documents in both Mac OS 7.6 or 8.0.

Large Clippings with Mac OS 7.6

To successfully drag a large clipping using Mac OS 7.6, the Word document window must be active before you drag the clipping.

Large Clippings with Mac OS 8.0

You will be unable to drag a large clipping to a Word document if you are using the Mac OS 8.0 operating system.

WORKAROUND

Do not use picture clippings to transfer large pictures to Word. Drag the picture directly from the other program or document or insert the picture directly from a file.
