  • Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition

SYMPTOMS

If you type text (or set a value) in the Find And Replace dialog box and then click another tab, you may experience one of the following symptoms:

Case 1

If you enter a string in the Find What or Replace With boxes on the Replace tab, click the Go To tab, and then click the Replace tab, the Find What or Replace With boxes will be empty.

Case 2

If you enter a string in the Find What or Replace With boxes on the Replace tab, click the Find tab, and then click the Replace tab, the Replace With box will be empty.

Case 3

If you type or select a value on the Go To tab, click the Find or Replace tab and then click the Go To tab, the value you typed or selected will be reset to empty or the first value in the list. This same behavior also occurs if you click a different item in the Go To What list and then click the previous item.

NOTE: The items in the Go To What list are based on items contained in your document, such as the following:

  • Bookmark
  • Comment
  • Field

All other items in this list are based on text that you enter in your document. When you click another tab in the Find and Replace dialog box and then return to the Go To tab, they are reset to blank.

To open the Find And Replace dialog box, click Find, Replace or Go To on the Edit menu.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, re-enter the item you want in the Find What, or Replace With box, or reselect the item in the Go To What list.
