Last reviewed: February 17, 1998

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition

SYMPTOMS

In Word, when you print document that contains a table, the text may overflow the table boundaries.

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

  • You change the text direction (on the Tables And Borders toolbar click Change Text Direction)

    -and-

  • The text overflows the table boundaries

Example

If you have more text within a single table cell than will fit within the boundaries of the table cell, the text is "clipped" when you print it.

   ---------------------------
   |Text in this cell overflo|
   ---------------------------

If you change text direction, the text is printed (in a vertical direction) as follows:

   ---------------------------
   |Text in this cell overflo|ws the table boundaries
   ---------------------------

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, limit the amount of text within a single table cell such that it does not overflow the table cell boundaries.

STATUS
