WinWord: Double-Click to Edit Message Disappears

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Word for Windows, if you choose Find from the Edit menu to search for a Microsoft Draw file, the status bar reads "Double click to Edit Microsoft Drawing" until you choose the Cancel button. Choosing the Cancel button causes this message to disappear even though the graphic remains selected.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Word for Windows listed above. We are researching this problem, and will post more information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

If a Microsoft Draw graphic is highlighted, the status bar should display this message. If you select the graphic a second time, the message reappears.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

1. Open a document that contains a graphic.

2. From the Edit menu, choose Find.

3. Type "^1" (without the quotation marks) in the Find What box.

4. Choose the Find Next button or press ALT+F. Note the message on the

   status bar.

5. Choose the Cancel button.

The message disappears.

Note: Double-clicking the drawing opens Microsoft Draw for editing the graphic.
