WinWord: Equation Editor Font Names Change Post-Reinstallation

SUMMARY

If you reinstall the Microsoft Equation Editor Fences and MT Extra TrueType fonts using the Windows Control Panel, the font names change to one of the following: 

Original Font Name             New Font Name


MT Extra TrueType              MT Extra Plain TrueType
                               -or-
                               MT Extra Regular TrueType

Fences                         Fences Plain TrueType
                               -or-
                               Fences Regular TrueType
These changes occur because the font name in the FOT files supplied with Word for Windows differs from the font name in the actual font (TTF) files. The Word for Windows Setup program installs these fonts using the names in the FOT files. If you reinstall the fonts using the Fonts dialog box in the Windows Control Panel, Windows uses the names from the TTF files instead. The fonts are the same, regardless of the names assigned to them.

If you are using versions 2.0a-CD or 2.0b of Word for Windows, the TTF files contain the following names for the Equation Editor TrueType fonts: 

   MT Extra Regular TrueType
   Fences Regular TrueType
