SYMPTOMS

When you are using a workbook that contains multiple sheets, and you use the Shift Down And Copy command on the shortcut menu (to access this menu click the right mouse button), links created in the inserted rows are not updated correctly in the third and subsequent sheets.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow the steps in the sample procedure below (you may need to adjust these steps slightly to suit your specific situation):

1. Open a workbook that contains four worksheets.

2. In cell A1 in Sheet2, type "=sheet1!A1" (without the quotation marks).

3. In cell A1 on Sheet3, type "=sheet2!A1" (without the quotation marks).

4. In cell A1 on Sheet4, type "=sheet3!A1" (without the quotation marks),

and select all four sheet tabs.

5. Select row 2 on Sheet1.

6. From the Insert menu, choose Rows (assuming there is data on row

2), this will insert a new row before the old row.

7. On Sheet1, select Row 1.

8. Use the right mouse button to drag the selection down one Row.

9. From the shortcut menu, choose Copy.

This should copy the data and formulas in row one from all sheets and place updated references and data in the new row 2 on all of the sheets in the workbook.
