Word Err Msg:

Last reviewed: November 17, 1997
Article ID: Q95682
The information in this article applies to:
  • Word for the Macintosh, versions 5.0, 5.1

SYMPTOMS

When you start Word, you may receive the error message:

"<Command Name>" and "<Command Name>" cannot be used at the same time.
"<Command Name>" is currently being used.

CAUSE

This occurs if Word detects multiple instances of a command module. In this case, Word looks for modules in the Word 5.1 Word Commands folder and in the folder containing the Word program. For example, if the Word application resides in the Word folder and a copy of the Spelling command is located in both the Word Commands folder and the Word folder, Word sees both copies and generates the error:

"Spelling" and "Spelling" cannot be used at the same time. "Spelling"
   is currently being used.

NOTE: This error occurs even if the command modules have different names.
