SUMMARY

Microsoft Word for the Macintosh does not directly have the capability to interactively check for spelling errors while you are creating a document. Word's spell checker can only flag errors when you choose the Spelling command. However, there is a third party product available, Thunder 7 by Rainmaker Research, that can interactively check for spelling errors as you are creating a document in Word.

MORE INFORMATION

Thunder 7 is a Control Panel Device that works in conjunction with most Macintosh word processors, including Word. You can set the CDEV to flash the menu bar or beep when a word is typed incorrectly. As you are creating a Word document, misspelled words are flagged by Thunder 7 allowing you to view suggestions for the misspelled word and correct the error before continuing. Thunder 7 adds a small check mark to the menu bar to the right of the Window and/or Work menu. Clicking on the check mark displays Thunder 7's menu with it's list of commands.

The current release of this product is Thunder 7 1.0.6. Earlier releases can cause unexpected behavior in Word 5.0.
