The WordBasic Date$() function returns a string containing the current date. The function returns a 10-character string. The form of the string depends on the country setting in the WIN.INI file. For the United States, the form is mm-dd-yyy.

Syntax

   Date$()

Example

   Print "The current date is: ";Date$()

Result: The following will be displayed in the status bar:

   The current date is: 10/19/89
