WordBasic Err=509/No Addresses Found Using AddressBook Macro

SYMPTOMS

The AddressBook macro halts after one of the following errors, and you cannot convert your address book. 

   WordBasic Err=509

   -or-

   No addresses were found in the Word Toolbar Prefs file, or the
   Word Toolbar Prefs file was not found in the Preferences folder.

   -or-

   The application "unknown" has unexpectedly quit, because of an error of
   type 3 occured.

CAUSE

  • The Toolbar Prefs file is corrupt or damaged.
  • The Toolbar Prefs file is not in the Preferences Folder.
  • The Address Converter is not in the Macros folder.

RESOLUTION

If you cannot update your address book, you can retype the addresses and store them as AutoText entries.

The AddressBook macro is located in the 5.1 Upgrade template, which is installed during a Complete installation. The template is stored in the Macros folder in your Word folder. If the Upgrade template has not been installed, rerun the Installer to install this template.
