WordBasic: ChDir and ChDefaultDir Commands Fail in System 7.5

Last reviewed: November 17, 1997
Article ID: Q129272
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, versions 6.0, 6.0.1

SYMPTOMS

A WordBasic macro containing the ChDir or ChDefaultDir WordBasic commands does not set the path to the folder designated in the macro even though the commands specify a valid Macintosh path.

CAUSE

System 7.5 includes an option in the General Controls CDEV that specifies to which folder applications default. The option "Last Folder Used in the application" overrides the macro commands ChDir and ChDefaultDir.

The WordBasic commands function correctly when the other two choices in the Documents section are chosen. These options are:

   Folder which contains the application
   Documents folder
