XL: Text Is Not Printed in Colored Cells

ID: Q167427

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you print a worksheet, text is not printed in cells with color formatting.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you print a worksheet to the Hewlett-Packard 1200C color ink jet printer in page control language (PCL) mode.

RESOLUTION

This printer is capable of using the PostScript page description language instead of PCL if the optional PostScript processor card is installed in the printer. If this card is installed, load the printer driver called "HP Deskjet 1200C/PS." This driver is available in Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows NT. This problem does not occur when you use this PostScript driver.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

In Microsoft Excel, the color of a cell is set to No Color by default. You can change this setting through the Format Cells dialog box. If you change the cell shading to a color and you print to an HP1200c printer in PCL mode, the text or values of that cell are not printed in colored cells.

REFERENCES

For more information about shading cells, click the Index tab in Microsoft Excel 97 Help, type the following text
