SYMPTOMS

In the versions of Microsoft Excel listed above, when you create a View that includes a Freeze Pane such that row one is not visible on the screen, you may receive unexpected results: the freeze pane may shift by one row and one of the rows may be hidden.

WORKAROUND

After the view has been created, select the view in the View Manager dialog box and click Show. The freeze pane will move to its original position.

STATUS

This is a known problem in the versions of Microsoft Excel listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows and Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.

MORE INFORMATION

View Manager is an add-in macro that saves the current window as a view and lets you apply your saved views to see your worksheet data in different formats.
