XL3: LINEST() Returns #NUM! Error for r^2

SYMPTOMS

If you are using the LINEST() function in Microsoft Excel version 3.0, you receive the #NUM! error value for r^2 (coefficient of determination).

CAUSE

This problem occurs if all of the values for the known_y's argument are the same.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel version 3.0. This problem was was corrected in Microsoft Excel version 4.0.
