XL5: Cannot Use Visual Basic to Delete Names with Spaces

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, if you attempt to access local defined names that exist on worksheets whose names contain spaces by using the Names collection, as in the sample Visual Basic procedure below you will receive this error message:

Run-Time error '1004':
Names method of Workbook class failed

       For Each X In ActiveWorkbook.Names
           If X.Name = "'Product List'!test" Then   'Worksheet name

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, version 7.0, Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows, and Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.
