XL5: FVSCHEDULE Function Causes GP Fault in ANALYSIS.XLL

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, if you use the FVSCHEDULE() function on a worksheet that already contains the FVSCHEDULE() function, you receive a general protection (GP) fault in ANALYSIS.XLL.

CAUSE

This error message appears if you have already used FVSCHEDULE() on the worksheet when you enter the second instance of FVSCHEDULE(), and you then reference an empty cell for either the principal argument or the schedule argument.

Note that this problem occurs whether you insert the FVSCHEDULE() function by using the Paste command, the Fill command, the fill handle, or the Function Wizard.

WORKAROUND

To avoid receiving a GP fault when you use the FVSCHEDULE() function on a worksheet, do either of the following to ensure that the Principal and Schedule arguments do not reference empty cells:

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
