SUMMARY

In the Print dialog box in Microsoft Excel 5.0, two options affect the quality of your printed document: Print Quality (on the Page tab), and Draft Quality (on the Sheet tab). Although these options sound similar, and there is no noticeable difference between the two in print preview, each option produces a different result.

Print Quality

Print Quality allows you to select the dots per inch (DPI) of the printer. The greater the number in this box, the higher the resolution of the printed document. (This option may not be available on PostScript printers or plotters.)

This option is located on the Page tab in the Page Setup dialog box. (To access the Page Setup dialog box, choose Page Setup from the File menu.)

Draft Quality

Draft Quality allows you to print fewer graphics and suppresses printing of cell gridlines. This option reduces printing time. Draft Quality is a useful option if you are using a plotter and low memory is causing printing problems.

This check box is located on the Sheet tab in the Page Setup dialog box. (To access the Page Setup dialog box, choose Print Setup from the File menu.)
