XL7: "Date Modified" Changes When File Opened

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel version 7.0, when you open a Microsoft Excel version 4.0 worksheet and close it without making changes, the "date modified" changes from the original date to the current date.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel for Windows 95 version 7.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
