SYMPTOMS
========

When you configure Cheyenne Software's ARCserve Backup Agent service to start
automatically at startup, the service may not start and the following message
may appear in Event Viewer:

   Event ID: 2140
   An External Winnt Error has occurred

CAUSE
=====

This behavior can occur if you are using Cheyenne Software's ARCserve Backup
Agent for Windows NT version 1.02a build 14. The Ntagent.exe file included in
this version has a date stamp of 8/20/97 or 10/1/97.

RESOLUTION
==========

To resolve this issue, contact Cheyenne Software to inquire about the
availability of an update to address this issue. For information about how to
