XL97: Control in Linked File Is Not Updated When Changed

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel 97, after you change a control in a workbook and save the workbook, the changes you made to the control are not saved.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

This problem occurs if the workbook to which you are linking is closed when you edit the control.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, verify that the workbook you are referencing is open when you double-click the linked object.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
