  • Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, step 2 of the Chart Wizard displays the following message instead of displaying a sample chart:

A surface chart must contain at least two series.

If you click Next, Microsoft Excel displays the same message, and step 2 of Chart Wizard appears again.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the following conditions are true:

  • In step 1 of the Chart Wizard, you select an xy (scatter) chart, and then click Next.

        -and-

  • In step 2 of the Chart Wizard, you click Back.

        -and-

  • In step 1 of the Chart Wizard, you select a surface chart and click Next.

WORKAROUND

To workaround this behavior, select the chart type that you want the first time you select a chart when you use the Chart Wizard.

If you experiencing this behavior, click Cancel, start the Chart Wizard again, and then select the chart type.
