XL98: Chart Is Not Collapsed After Double-Clicking Window Title

SYMPTOMS

When you double-click the title bar of a Microsoft Excel workbook to hide the workbook window, an embedded chart in the workbook remains visible on the screen.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

  • You are using the collapsing windows or WindowShade feature that is provided by the Macintosh operating system.

    -and-

  • You create a workbook that contains an embedded chart.

    -and-

  • The embedded chart is active when you double-click the title bar of the workbook.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, switch to the worksheet before you hide the workbook window.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
