  • Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition

SYMPTOMS

If you use a database function (also referred to as a Dfunction) with a computed criteria that includes a cell reference to another sheet, the function may incorrectly return zero.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:

  • The criteria argument in the Dfunction function points to a range that contains computed criteria.

    -and-

  • The computed criteria are on a sheet other than the sheet with the database.

    -and-

  • The computed criteria are using cell references.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do either of the following:

  • Place any criteria range on the same worksheet as the database.

    -or-

  • If the criteria range must be on a worksheet that is separate from the database, use the field name instead of a relative reference.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
