XL98: Forward and Back Buttons May Not Work for Hyperlinks

SYMPTOMS

When you click a hyperlink in a Microsoft Excel workbook, the Forward and Back buttons on the Web toolbar may not go forward or backward to the linked items.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you embed a Microsoft Excel workbook in a Microsoft Word document.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

If you have created a linked Microsoft Excel embedded object, this problem does not occur. However, you must activate the linked embedded object to use both the Forward and Back toolbar buttons to go to the links.

For more information about hyperlinks, click Contents And Index on the Help menu (or on the Balloon Help menu if you are using a version of the Macintosh operating system earlier than 8.0), click the Index button in Microsoft Excel Help, type the following text

   hyperlinks

and then click Show Topics. Select the "create a hyperlink(Microsoft Excel)" topic, and click Go To. If you are unable to find the information you need, ask the Office Assistant.
