XL98: Printing Nonadjacent Areas On One Sheet

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, you attempt to print out separate sections of a workbook on one page, but instead they print on multiple pages.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you set multiple nonadjacent Print Areas in a workbook.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, hide the columns and rows between the areas and set a single, continuous print area to print everything on one page. An example of how to do this is as follows:

1. In a new workbook, type the following:

         A1:Test1   B1:Test1
         A2:Test1   B2:Test1
         A3:        B3:
         A4:Test2   B4:Test2
         A5:Test2   B5:Test2
   
   

2. Select Row 3. On the Format menu, point to Row, and then click Hide.

3. Select A1:B5. On the File menu, point to Print Area, and then click Set Print Area.

4. The selected items will now print as one page.

STATUS

This is by design of Microsoft Excel.

1. Type the following in a new workbook:

        A1:Test1   B1:Test1

2. Select A1:B2. Hold down the COMMAND key and select A4:B5.

3. On the File menu, point to Print Area, and click Set Print Area.

4. On the File menu, click Print Preview.
