Please reinstall Flight Simulator 2000 to restore or repair the file. Flight Simulator will now exit. When you attempt to start a flight in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002, you may receive an error message similar to one of the following: scenedb\cities\anchor\capitolscenery in scenery area 071 not found -or- Scenery Read Error: Attempting to open a non-existent directory -or- scenery.cfg file error. scenery area not found where is the path and file, and the is the area in question. CAUSE ===== This behavior can occur if the Flight Simulator installation process is corrupted. RESOLUTION ========== To resolve this issue, use the following methods in the order presented. Method 1: Uninstall Program, Delete Program Folder, Clean-boot, Reinstall Program --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. NOTE: On a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, click Start, and then click Control Panel. 2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. 3. On the Install/Uninstall tab, double-click "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000" or "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002", and then follow the steps to uninstall the program. Delete the FS2000 or FS2002 Folder ---------------------------------- 1. Click Start, and then click Run. 2. In the Open box, type the following: "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Games" (with quotation marks) 3. Click OK. 4. In the Microsoft Games dialog box, right-click the FS2000 or FS2002 folder, and then click Delete. 5. Close the Microsoft Games dialog box.
