XADM: Event ID 4087: The Service Could not be Started

SUMMARY

When you upgrade a Microsoft Exchange Server version 4.0 computer from Windows NT 3.51 to Windows NT 4.0, the Microsoft Exchange Internet Mail Connector (IMC) may fail to start. If you set the IMC's logging to maximum on initialization/ termination, you may see the following Event ID in the Windows NT Event Viewer Application log:

   Event ID: 4087
   Source: MSExchangeIMC
   Category: Initialization/Termination
   Description: The service could not be started because the queue viewing
   interface could not be registered.

MORE INFORMATION

When upgrading from Windows NT 3.51 to Windows NT 4.0 with Services for Macintosh installed, the service may fail to start properly. Remove and re-add the Services for Macintosh, make sure they start properly, and then start the IMC.
