This occurs specifically when the auto-numbered reference is an asterisk, a cross, a double cross, or a section break symbol. CAUSE ===== This problem occurs when you use the Word Import Converter (Mswrd832.cnv) to open the document. RESOLUTION ========== To resolve this problem, upgrade to the latest version of the Word 97-2000 Import Converter.
