CAUSE ===== This problem occurs when the Visual SourceSafe database is on a Novell network and when the file is added from a computer that uses Novell Client 4.83. RESOLUTION ========== To resolve this problem, use one of the following three methods: 1. Install the following fix for Novell Client 4.83 from the Novell support Web site: Nt483pt1.exe http://support.novell.com/servlet/filedownload/pub/nt483pt1.exe 2. Use Microsoft Client for NetWare Networks. 3. Downgrade to Novell Client 4.80 Service Pack 3 or earlier. Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. On a computer that has Novell Client 4.83 installed, create a text file named MyLongFileName.txt, and then save the file to your desktop. 2. Start Visual SourceSafe Explorer, and then log on to a database. 3. Select a project, or create a new project. 4. On the File menu, click Add Files. 5. Click MyLongFileName.txt, click Add, and then click OK. Notice that you receive the error message that is listed in the "Symptoms" section.
