XADM: Replication Fails with DRA 13 Error

SYMPTOMS

Replication fails with the following events in the application log:

Event ID 1083 Source: MSExchangeDS Type: Warning Category: Replication Description: Replication warning: The directory replication agent (DRA) couldn't synchronize naming context /o=Org/ou=Site with naming context on directory SERVER1.

Event ID 1059 Source: MSExchangeDS Type: Warning Category: Replication Description: Internal error: The directory replication agent (DRA) call returned error 13.

CAUSE

There is a communication problem between the replication servers.

WORKAROUND

Test and resolve the communication problem by pinging the servers from each other and also run the RPCPing utility to test RPC Communication. If an LMHOST file is being used verify the correct ip address and names of the servers.
