XADM: Server Specific Error 4294966095 When Starting the IS

SYMPTOMS

When starting the Microsoft Exchange Information Store (IS), a server specific error 4294966095 may be generated.

CAUSE

This will happen when the Public Information Store database (Pub.edb) is in an inconsistent state.

WORKAROUND

Restore the IS from an online backup. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for assistance if necessary.

MORE INFORMATION

To confirm the state of the database, run the following command from a command prompt on the Microsoft Exchange Server computer:

   EDBUTIL /MH /ispub |MORE

The 'State' of the database will be displayed on the screen and will be either Consistent or Inconsistent.
