How to Create an Internet Retrieval Project Using SSL

SYMPTOMS

As stated in the documentation, Content Replication System (CRS) "Internet Retrieval" Projects allow you to retrieve contents from a server using Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) or File Transfer Protocol (FTP).

An Internet Retrieval project cannot be used to retrieve contents from a secure Web server using HTTP:


CAUSE

This behavior is by design.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Site Server service pack that contains this fix.
