Radius Cannot Re-Establish a Connection to ODBC Data Source

ID: Q221196

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When Radius uses an ODBC data source for validation data, it cannot re-establish a connection to the ODBC data source if the connection is broken (database crash, database maintenance, network storm, hardware problems, electrical outages).

CAUSE

No retry logic was implemented for ODBC, so the service fails to start if the database is unavailable, and fails to reconnect if the server is unreachable for any reason.
