Search OLE-DB Provider Returns Incorrect Length

SYMPTOMS

When you run Search against a database, Search incorrectly returns the length of each row. The value for the length is off by a value of two of the actual row length.

CAUSE

The lengths that the caller gets back from the fields in the row Sets, as returned by the WSTR length, includes the NULL terminator. This causes the length to be off by two.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply the latest Site Server 3.0 service pack.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Site Server version 3.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Site Server version 3.0 U.S. Service Pack. For information on obtaining the service pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
