Some Visits May Not Be Created for External Referrers

SYMPTOMS

When you import a log with requests from the same user, if there is a request with an external referrer within the user-settable visit timeout period (defaults to 30 minutes of user idle time, which can be set on the Site properties Inference tab), the visit is not correctly broken up into two visits.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply the latest Site Server 3.0 service pack.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Site Server version 3.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. service pack for Microsoft Site Server version 3.0.
