Unknown Error Is Generated by CIPM When MDAC Is Installed

ID: Q199065

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.1 or later, the Commerce Interchange Pipeline Manager (CIPM) interface no longer displays the contents of the CIPM database; instead, it displays the initial CIPM Wizard interface, as if no profiles were configured. Attempts to run any of the three available wizards results in an Unknown Error message.

CAUSE

CIPM uses adModeShareDenyWrite on the ADO open call to the CIPM database (Cipm.mdb). Although this worked in ADO 1.5, it is not supported in ADO 2.0 and later.
