ID: Q193306

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to import Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0 FTP logs with Site Server Usage Import, the logs do not import correctly.

CAUSE

IIS 3.0 uses the return code 200 for a successful transfer. IIS 4.0 uses the return code defined in RFC 959: 226 closing data connection. Usage Import does not check for this return code.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply the latest Site Server 3.0 service pack.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, open the log file and replace the 226 return codes with 200. The log will then import correctly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Site Server version 3.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. service pack for Microsoft Site Server version 3.0.
