ID: Q183752

The information in this article applies to:

SUMMARY

By default, Microsoft Proxy Server versions 1.0 and 2.0 do not ship with a protocol definition that allows the use of the CompuServe client. In order to proxy requests made by the CompuServe client, you must configure a protocol definition.

MORE INFORMATION

CompuServe uses outbound TCP connections over port 4144. The following steps describe the procedure for configuring a protocol definition for CompuServe clients.

1. Open the properties for the Winsock Proxy service.

2. Click the Protocols tab.

3. Click the "Add..." button.

4. In the Protocol Name field, enter a title such as "CompuServe" (without

   the quotation marks).

5. In the Port field, enter "4144" (without the quotation marks).

6. For type, specify TCP.

7. For direction, specify Outbound.

8. Click OK. This should return you to the list of existing protocol

definitions. Click Apply and then click OK.

For additional information on protocol definitions, double click "Protocol Definitions" in the Index for the online Proxy Server documentation.
