Proxy Server 2.0 Log Records May Contain Unsafe Characters

ID: Q231050

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

Log analysis tools such as Microsoft Site Server Analysis may import Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 logs incorrectly.

CAUSE

Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 log records are comma delimited. Any fields containing commas in the field, such as a URL string or user agent string, can case analysis tools to detect a part of the field as a separate field. This is because Proxy Server logging does not replace commas in a field as it should.
