Proxy Server 2.0 Logging Fails to Initialize on Service Start

SYMPTOMS

When the Web Proxy Service starts, the following error messages may occur:


   WebProxyLog 103
   The server was unable to open ODBC Data Source proxy, Table:
   msp_log_table, under User Name sa. The ODBC Error is:
   ??????????????????????????. The data is the error code.
   0000: 1f 00 00 00


   WebProxyLog 106
   The server failed to create a log context. The data is error code.
   0000: 1f 00 00 00


   WebProxyLog 107
   The server failed to log information. The log object was never created possibly due to wrong configuration.

CAUSE

These errors can occur if the password specified with the account used for ODBC logging is blank. This occurs because the Web Proxy Server has a hard-coded default password that is used whenever a blank password is specified.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, specify an actual password for the account used for ODBC logging.
