Installing SNA Server On Terminal Server

ID: Q191921

The information in this article applies to:

SUMMARY

The installation of SNA Server or SNA Server Windows NT client software on a Terminal Server computer requires certain SNA Server files to be registered as system global. Registering the files allows the SNA Server software to work correctly in a multi-user environment. This is done by running the appropriate compatibility script from the <Wtsrvroot>\Application Compatibility Scripts directory, on the Terminal Server computer, after the SNA Server or SNA Windows NT client software has been installed. No registration is necessary for Windows 95/98 clients.

MORE INFORMATION

Use the following steps to install SNA Server or SNA Server Windows NT client software on a Terminal Server computer.

1. On the Terminal Server computer, open a DOS window. At the command

prompt, change to install mode by typing the following command:

      change user /install

2. Install SNA Server or SNA Server Client using the setup program. For
more information, refer to the installation instructions in your SNA
   Server documentation.

3. After SNA Server is installed, make sure SnaBase is stopped and that the
computer is still in install mode. SnaBase can be stopped from the
Control Panel, under Services, or by typing the following command at a
   command prompt:

      Net stop SnaBase

To verify the Terminal Server computer is still in install mode, type
the following command at a command prompt:

      change user /query

4. Run the appropriate compatibility script, based on the version of SNA
Server or SNA Client that you are running, from the
<Wtsrvroot>\Application Compatibility Scripts directory. The following
SNA Server compatibility scripts are available:

      - Mssna30.cmd (SNA Server or Client version 3.0)
      - Sna40srv.cmd (SNA Server version 4.0)
      - Sna40cli.cmd (SNA Client version 4.0)

The script will register the SNA Server files listed below as system
global, allowing the SNA Server or the SNA Windows NT client to work
   correctly in the multi-user environment.

      - Snadmod.dll
      - Snamanag.dll
      - Wappc32.dll
      - Dbgtrace.dll
      - Mngbase.dll
      - Snatrc.dll
      - Snalm.dll
      - Snanw.dll
      - Snaip.dll
      - Snabase.exe
      - Snaservr.exe
      - Snasii.dll
      - Snalink.dll

NOTE: If you run the script from a command prompt, use a command prompt
window that was opened after the SNA Server or SNA Client installation.

5. At a command prompt, change the Terminal Server computer back to execute
mode by typing the following command:

      change user /execute

At this point the SNA Server or SNA Windows NT Client software is ready to run on the Terminal Server computer.
