BUG: Adding Steps to Database Maintenance Job Results in Error in SQL Enterprise Manager

SYMPTOMS

If you add a new step to a job that was created as part of building a database maintenance plan, you will encounter the following error when you use SQL Server Enterprise Manager to select that plan under Database Maintenance Plans:

The job 'Integrity Checks Job for DB Maintenance Plan 'DB Maintenance
Plan 1' could not be parsed. Do you want to ignore it and continue?'

If you click OK, you can proceed and view or edit the plan as normal.


WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not modify jobs created by the Database Maintenance Plan Wizard.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 7.0.
