BUG: Client Network Utility Allows Invalid IPX Port Address Format

SYMPTOMS

When using the Client Network Utility to add a new client configuration entry, which uses the NWLink IPX/SPX network library, an invalid port address format is allowed.


CAUSE

Format error checking is not performed in the Client Network Utility.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 7.0.


MORE INFORMATION

For NWLink IPX/SPX, the port address should start with '0x'.
