SMS: How to Control Software Inventory Forwarding to Parent Site

It is possible to control the flow of software inventory up to a parent site by modifying a value in the registry of the child primary site.

To control this behavior, you can set the Forwarding Bitmask value in the registry.

Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).

Setting the Forwarding Bitmask value to 0 disables the forwarding of software inventory up to the parent site. A setting of 1 will enable forwarding to the parent site. The default setting is 0.

Hardware inventory will always be forwarded to the parent site.
