SUMMARY

The new International Business Machines (IBM) DB2 ODBC driver fully supports Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS), including connection pooling and automatic transaction enlistment. The update, known as MTS Hotfix 0722 for MTS 2.0, allows MTS applications to update IBM's DB2 databases on a wide variety of platforms under distributed transaction protection. Updates to DB2 databases can be synchronized with updates to other transaction- protected resources including Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Message Queue Server, Oracle databases, and others.

Follow these steps to obtain Hotfix 0722:

1. Connect to http://www.microsoft.com/com/

2. Click the link to Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS).

3. Click Downloads.

4. Click MTS Hotfix 0722.

MORE INFORMATION

MTS applications can access DB2 databases using distributed transaction protection on the following platforms:

Windows NT, OS/2, AIX, HP/UX, and Solaris
   -----------------------------------------

A transactional MTS application that connects to an IBM DB2 database on
Windows NT, OS/2, AIX, HP/UX, and Solaris over TCP/IP, SNA, NETBIOS
(Windows NT and OS/2 only), or SPX/IPX (Windows NT, OS/2, and AIX only)
   using DB2 UDB Version 5.0.

   MVS/ESA, OS/390, VM, VSE, and AS/400
   ------------------------------------

A transactional MTS application that connects to an IBM DB2 database on
AS/400, MVS/ESA, OS/390, VM, and VSE over DRDA using DB2 Connect Version
5.0. This connection requires the use of DB2 Connect Enterprise Edition
V5 (DB2 Connect EE) and the IBM Communication Server on Windows NT,
   OS/2, or AIX.

If you want to make use of an IBM DB2 database from a transactional MTS component, you must install enhanced versions of both Microsoft's MTS and IBM's DB2.
