A project that uses the ADO 2.0 Type Library only uses interfaces, both externally and internally, that are available in ADO 2.0.

Using the ADO 2.0 Type Library allows an application to use ADO 2.0 interfaces internally. This means a project can be compiled on a computer with ADO 2.1 installed and it runs on a computer with only ADO 2.0 installed.
