SUMMARY

Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) Version 2.0 is available with the Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4. Service Pack 1 includes the MDAC core components, ActiveX Data Objects (ADO), Remote Data Service (RDS), OLE DB, and ODBC. The Service Pack also ships an update to the Microsoft Access ODBC Driver and the OLE DB Provider for Jet (as well as the Jet engine). It does not include either the SQL Server OLE DB Provider or Oracle OLE DB Providers found in MDAC version 2.0.

NOTE: MDAC 2.0 Service Pack 1 is intended just for users of Windows NT 4.0 SP4, and is not to be redistributed.

MDAC 2.0 SP1 and Year 2000 Compliance

MDAC 2.0 SP1 is for year 2000 remediation of Windows NT SP4. Per the license agreement of MDAC 2.0 SP1, you cannot redistribute MDAC 2.0 SP1 except to computers that have Windows NT 4.0 SP4 already installed.

Use the following steps to acquire further year 2000 compliance information:
  1. Navigate to the following Web site:

  2. Select "Product Guide" (which is listed both on the main page, as well as under "Year 2000" in the menu on the left side of the Web page).


  3. On the Product Guide page, scroll down to the section labeled "Compliance Information for Microsoft Products", and find the Microsoft Products list box.


  4. Within the list box, scroll down to the section labeled "Data Access".


Currently, there is Year 2000 Compliance information posted under "Data Access" for the following data technologies: ADO, DAO, RDS, Microsoft OLE DB, ODBC Core Components, and the Microsoft Oracle ODBC Driver. Microsoft continues to update this technology list and plans to add Y2K information for the following versions of MDAC:

If you have installed Windows NT version 4.0 SP4 and have been directed to install MDAC 2.0 SP1, go to the Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 License Agreement:

  1. Accept the license agreement. (You must accept the License Agreement to be able to download the Service Pack.)


  2. Click Year 2000 Service Pack 4 Download.


  3. Click Microsoft Data Access Components version 2.0 Service Pack 1 in the Optional Components section.
