XADM: IS/DS Check Does Not Recreate Deliv-Ext-Cont-Types for Mailbox

SYMPTOMS

When creating a Mailbox object using the IS/DS consistency adjuster, for example after restoring an old backup of the Exchange Server directory, the DELIV-EXT-CONTENT-TYPES attribute is not re-created. This mailbox may not be able to receive messages from an X.400 connector. The following error will be logged in the Windows NT application event log:

Event ID: 8516
Description: The delivery of a message failed because the message's content type was incorrect. A non-delivery report is being sent to the message's originator.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5 service pack that contains this fix.
