SUMMARY

When you use Microsoft Outlook to resend a message, you receive the following error message:

You do not have the permissions to send the message on behalf of the specific user.
This occurs even though the user is logged on to the mailbox as the primary Windows NT account. However, if you send and receive mail, you do not receive the error message.

MORE INFORMATION

When you resend a message, Outlook checks your "send as" rights. The above error occurs when your "send as" right is not enabled.

Use the following steps to give a Windows NT account the Send As right to a mailbox:

  1. Start the Microsoft Exchange Administrator program.

  2. On the Tools menu, click Options, and click the Permissions tab.

  3. Make sure that the Show Permissions Page for All Objects and the Display Rights for Roles on Permissions Page check boxes are selected.

Next, choose the mailbox.
  1. Select the Recipients container, and select the mailbox.

  2. Double-click on the mailbox, or select the object, and on the File menu, click Properties. Click the Permissions tab.

  3. In Windows NT accounts with Permissions, select the Windows NT account you want to set rights for.

  4. Go to the Rights dialog box and verify that the Send As check box is selected. Click Apply, and click OK.
