FIX: Component Gallery Dynamic Folder Gives Fatal Exception

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Open dialog to specify a Dynamic Folder for a Component Gallery item, a Fatal Exception error occurs and Visual FoxPro closes.


RESOLUTION

Enter the Dynamic folder directly into the Node tab of the Properties dialog box without using the Open dialog.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

This bug was fixed in the updated version of the Setup Wizard Vfp6swiz.exe dated 10/08/1998.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Start the Component Gallery.


  2. Go to the Component Gallery Options dialog box by selecting the Options button at the top, and make sure the "Advanced editing enabled" option is selected in the Standard tab.


  3. Right-click a Catalog item and choose properties.


  4. Select the Node tab.


  5. In the Catalog Item Properties dialog box, click the ellipse "..." button beside the Class library text box, for the Dynamic folder option.


  6. Enter some text in the Open dialog box.


  7. Click the OK button.


RESULTS: The Fatal Exception occurs and Visual FoxPro closes.
